Taormina, Sicily, Italy (and we’ve seen it spelled Taromina as well) is one of Sicily’s cliff-side gems, a must see when on a Mediterranean Cruise that stops in Messina, Sicily, Italy.
The trip to Taormina alone is breathtaking…
…in more ways then one, but we’ll leave that as a surprise for you when you get there. 🙂
During the drive up this cliff-side town, you’ll get to see lemon trees along the way, you’ll drive through hillside tunnels, catch glimpses of the ocean until you start to wind up the scenic cliff-side and across some uniquely crafted bridges. Once at the top, take an elevator to the 7th floor and viola!… you’ll reach the quaint streets of Taormina!!
You’ll find narrow streets just for walking, tons of European style goods for shopping, musicians sharing their craft plus some beautifully crafted structures and architecture for gawking and the very best part… the million dollar views in Taormina!! Just check out this short video to see for yourself.
But seriously, Taormina, Sicily, Italy will make you fall in love with her and you’ll find yourself, as we did, wanting to hang out there all day long eating gelato to cool down from the hot sun or you’ll find yourself perched on a restaurant’s patio dining on authentic Italian pizza (or calzone) while admiring the gorgeous views of the Mediterranean Sea below.
Another great thing to be discovered in Taormonia is the archaeological and famed “Teatro Greco”, also known as the Greek Theatre, where you’ll learn about it’s great history and have, “again”, great views of the blue sea and coastline.
